Cook Book: Jamie’s 30 Minute Meals
As part of my new year resolutions, I have decided that I need to use my shelf full of cook books and actually cook some new recipes and hence the 2014 “Cooking Something New Challenge” has now been born… this post begins my new years challenge.
So rushed home from work today to cook the first weekly cooking challenge… decided to go with a Jamie Oliver 30 minute meals recipe as I can defiantly cook something mid-week and get it on the table before 8 even after a busy day in the office.
The recipe was pretty easy to follow no major challenges… discovered that I didnt have any grease proof paper but used foil instead and it seemed to work fine… kitchen ended up like a disaster zone as normal when I am cooking a Jamie 30 minute meal, in the rush to get the item cooking in the 30 mins there seems to be zero time to clean up as you go along…. (You are supposed to do 3 items (pie, salad, and dessert) in 30 minutes but I find I can barely get the main done in that time?)
So, would I cook this again? I must say it defiantly looked the business and appetising… sadly however the flavour was completely dominated by lemon?? The recipe calls for the zest of one lemon, which I dully provided, however either it was an extra strong lemon or I got a bit too over zealous with my zesting. Its not inedible just not great… the other half said that the more you ate the less lemon dominated it was, which was true to a certain point however overall a bit disappointing really…
Cook again? Maybe, but would definitely revisit the lemon zest
